Q: What quality are your Cedar trees?

We select the best bushy trees that have no signs of burning or chafing.

Q: What size of Cedar trees should I get?

Taller trees will provide you with fuller privacy and will cost you more money. We provide Cedar trees in various sizes.

Q:  What size trees should I get for instant privacy?

10-15 foot trees will give you instant privacy. Smaller sizes will take time to give you this result.

Q:  What distance apart will you plant the Cedar trees and how do I know how many I will need?

We generally plant 1’ to 1 ½’ apart. This will allow the roots to establish and gain strength while growing into each other. Measure the linear distance in feet of the area you want hedged: 2-8 foot trees (1 tree per foot); 9-15 foot trees (1 tree per 1 ½ foot). This will give you the amount of trees you will need.

Q: When is the ideal time to plant trees?

It is okay to plant them anytime where there is no frost. Ideal times are when the ground is wet and moist.

Cedar trees do not require a lot of sunlight. As long as you properly water them, they will continue to grow.

Q:  How do you dig and how deep?

We dig about 1′-2’ wide and about one foot deep depending on the size of the rootball of the Cedar tree being planted.

Q:  How far should the Cedar hedge be planted away from fences and sidewalks?

We plant Cedar hedges about 20″-24” away from fences.  This allows the trees to grow without obstruction for a few years.

Q:  What if we don’t have a fence where you are to plant the Cedars?

We often plant Cedars in areas without fences. We ensure that they are planted in an upright position and secured properly. In some instances, we may have to use stakes for added support.

Q:  How long does it take to plant the Cedar trees?

There are so many variables to the length of time it will take, such as weather conditions; accessibility of the area to be hedged; where we have to unload from our trucks, soil, size of trees, etc.  Generally, jobs take about 2-5 hours.  Heavy rain makes it very difficult to uproot and plant the trees.

Q:  Say I would like to plant them myself?  Can I do that?

You have the choice of having them delivered or you can pick them up.  A proper care package which consists of maintenance tips will be given to you.

Q:  How high will our Cedar trees get?

In optimal growing conditions, your Cedars can grow to 40 feet.

Q:  How much will my Cedar hedge grow each year?

They will grow about one foot per year as long as you water them through warmer months and fertilize them annually.

Q:  How long will it take for the Cedar trees to become a full privacy hedge?

The closer we plant a tree to each other, the less time it will take for a privacy hedge to form.  We can’t plant them too close together, as they will not have any room to grow properly.  It is very  important to trim the tops to encourage fresh growth.  It will take approximately 3 seasons to give the appearance of a thick privacy hedge.
