The Ontario Eastern White Cedar Tree is a hardy and fast-growing tree…

  • It usually lives for about 200 years
  • It grows throughout Ontario
  • Cones are from 1/3″ to 1/2″ long and grow in clumps of 5 or 6 pairs
  • Small scaly leaves are a yellowish-green colour and cover the tree’s
    fan-shaped twigs
  • The bark is thin and shiny when the tree is young but separates into flat narrow strips as it ages
  • Size: Mature 40′ tall, 12′ spread, trunk 1′ in diameter
  • Moisture: Prefers moist soil
  • Shade: Tolerates some shade
  • Soil: Grows in a variety of soils but does not tolerate road salt
  • The Ontario Eastern White Cedar Tree is a beautiful landscaping tree and a popular choice for hedges and wind breaks
  • Mature height of 25-40 feet with a spread of 10-12 feet
  • Grows in all climates
  • Relatively inexpensive, easy to transplant, and grows rapidly
